TXDOT Construction Project Superintendent

 

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Role:

We are looking for a full-time, hands-on Project Superintendent to join our team. Direct experience as a Project Superintendent for a general contractor (ideal) or subcontractor is required. The Project Superintendent is responsible for performing all aspects of the project: utilize technology to track costs, budgets, quantities, CCO's, RFI's, and scheduling, and overview the subcontractors and other aspects of the project(s).

 

Project Superintendent Background Profile:

• Bachelor’s degree preferred, not required

• 6+ years’ experience assisting on site with Heavy Civil/Heavy Highway/TXDOT construction projects

• Three (3) or more years of experience in overseeing construction projects exceeding $50M of highways and bridges

• Computer literate with basic knowledge in programs like Word, Excel. Knowledge and familiarity of P6, MS Projects, and Bluebeam (Preferred)

• An ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, have excellent people skills, and will be a team player

• On-site Construction Supervision experience

• Prior procurement and logistics experience

• Ability to work hands on and “run the show”

• Outstanding organizational skills and ability to prioritize effectively are a must

• Competent in written and verbal communication

• Able to work swiftly and accurately through various small projects

• Must be a self-starter without supervision

• Valid Driver’s License

• Punctual and responsive to schedules with deadlines

• Travel may be required

 

Responsibilities:

• Ensure a "Safety First" attitude throughout the project from all levels of management and operations

• Work and coordinate with subcontractors to ensure paperwork and work packages are submitted in a timely manner

• Coordinate and track utility connections throughout phases of construction

• Maintain on-time submission of required paperwork to municipalities for project completions (Daily reports, Schedule updates, etc.)

• Assist Project Manager by preparing paperwork and contacting subcontractors

• Project schedule updates and field coordination of subcontractor progress.

• Track and process client and subcontract change orders and RFI’s

• Assist with the preparation of bid packages, sending out RFP’s and evaluating subcontractor bids

• Make phone calls; copy scan, email, and file documents; maintain client relationship; maintain professional appearance and cleanliness of the construction office

• Research, implement, and use mobile apps across multiple platforms including Co-Construct

• Attend to miscellaneous tasks as necessary

• Moderate physical activity performing somewhat strenuous daily activities of a primarily administrative nature. Some exposure to outdoors with changing weather conditions such as rain, sun, snow, and wind. Ability to physically maneuver by foot minor obstacles at construction projects
